Welcome Parents

We have designed this area of the website to give you as much information as we can for you and your child during your stay with the Whiteland Soccer Club. Please feel free to look around and if you need any help, use the Contact link in the navigation bar above.

Season Information

We run two seasons during the year that you and your child can participate in. Technically, a season is from the fall of one year to fall of the next but due to the winter break we commonly refer to the fall session as a "season" and the spring session a "season". It is a lot like school in that you have the first semester and second semester that technically make up the school year. So, the fall "season" generally runs from August to October and the spring "season" runs between March and May.

We try to give coaches a month for practicing (usually twice a week) before games start at which point practics will drop to once a week. There is one game during the week and one game Saturday morning. For the U9 division and up, we have an end-of-the-season tournament for the kids to participate in to give them an experience in full competition with reward.

Club Information

The Whiteland Soccer Club is ran soley by volunteer efforts and as such we require parent involvement to help provide all the necessary requirements needed to have a successful season. As such, we ask that each parent volunteer two hours per season in the following areas: field maintenance, concessions, and field marshaling. Participating in any one of these activities counts as one hour towards to required two.

Field maintenance involves repainting the fields due to normal wear-n-tear from practicing and games. We provide all the necessary equipment and you provide the time. Having fields painted on a regular basis improve the quality of playing for the kids when the lines are clearly visible.

Also beginning in the spring of 2008, we are going to be implementing field marshals. These are people that will be easily recognizable and radio-equipped to assist with any need that arises during games. There will be multiple field marshals assigned per game day as there is a lot of area to be covered. There will always be a board member present for the field marshals to turn to in the event of emergency or delicate situations. Providing a visible person that can be utilized in a moment's notice will help keep games running smoothly, ensure the safety of our children, and allow parents and guests to enjoy this wonderful game.
